Pour half a bottle of light corn syrup into a bowl. Add hot water and stir until you have the right consistency. Squit in some liquid soap to make it easy to clean off later. Tint with red food coloring - you can add a drop of blue or green if you want your blood a darker color. Keep in the refrigerator until ready to use. Smear on as needed. Good old bubble wrap and duct tape can be used to make a variety of costumes. Just start wrapping and taping and see what you get. Paint on a scary face and you're ready to hit the Trick or Treat trail. TRASH BAG WITCHS Big black trash bags make great witch costomes. Cut a slits in one end for the head and arms to go through and belt the waist. Put on some striped socks and start to cackle. COFFEE FILTER CUFFS Fold some coffee filters in half and cut a circle out of the center. Cut through one side so they can be places around wrists and ankles. Staple or tape in place for fancy cuffs and ruffles. Good when it's too cold outside to go without the heavy coats and gloves. GHOSTLY SHEETS The easier, quickest costume is still putting on a sheet to go out as a ghost. Just cut a hole for the head to go through and trim the sheet at the bottom so there won't be any tripping. A pillowcase works as a hood with holes for the eyes, nose and mouth. It can be removed while walking and just pulled on to scare people when they answer the door. JAMMIES FOREVER For the youngest children, don't forget that jammies with feet work really well. Just add some make-up or a hat and you have things like a pink pig, a black skeleton or a white littel angel. And remember that masks are a hazard for the little kids because they prevent good vision. ELECTRIFYING TAPE Reflective tape can be your best friend at Halloween. All costumes should be trimmed with this if kids are going to be out after dark. It can even turn a warm sweatsuit into a costume if you use your scissors to cut shapes like lightning bolts or superher logos. HAVE FUN! |
