Old Shoes Day |
The oldest known shoe was found in an Egyptian tomb dated 2000 B.C. It was a sandal made out of woven papyrus - the main footwear of ancient people living in warm climates. Egyptian soldiers went into battle barefooted, but the Assyrians made the first boot for their military about 1100 B.C. Greek and Roman soldiers eventually gave up the barefoot tradition and the boot business was born. |
