Nail Polish Day

About This Date

The Egyptians were staining their fingernails with henna back in 3000 B.C., but nail paint was invented in China to show social rank. When the use of nail paint spread, it continued to signify social order - with red at the top. Queen Nefertiti painted her fingernails and toenails ruby red. Cleopatra used a deep rust red. But, it wasn't just women who were getting manicures. Egyptian, Babylonian and Roman military leaders had their fingernails painted before they went into battle.
Have a Great Day!
