Ham Radio Day |
Amateur radio is a community of people that use radio transmitters and receivers to talk to each other. They are called ham radio operators or just "hams." (The origin of this nickname is lost, so nobody knows why.) But, it's more than just a high-tech hobby. Normal means of communication are often lost during floods, hurricanes or earthquakes. Hams are always ready to use their radios for emerency services and help. |
