Clark Gable was crowned "The King of Hollywood" by 'The New York
Daily News'. A well deserved title for a man who's acting career spanned
over thirty years. He left school at the age of 16 and held various jobs until
reaching Hollywood in 1924. He was signed to a contract by MGM in
1930 and received an Oscar in 1934 for "It Happened One Night". He
was married five times - the most famous was wife number three - 'Carol
Lombard' (killed in a plane crash in 1942). Gables last movie was "The
Misfits" made with 'Marilyn Monroe' and 'Montgomery Cliff'.
He died of a heart attack in 1960 and was laid to rest beside
Carole Lombard at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, California. His only child was born after his death.
