Oscar grew up on the "mean" streets of Los Angeles becoming a boxer with the help of his father-Joel De La Hoya, a former professional boxer from Durango, Mexico. Oscar was the only American boxer to win an Olympic Gold Medal at the 1992 Summer games. Since that time, Oscar rocketed through the professional ranks, becoming the undisputed, undefeated Light Weight Champion of the World in just his 20th fight. His current record is 31-1 (25 KOs) with his only loss to a 12 round majority decision to Felix Trinidad on September 18, 1999. He also takes time out of his busy career to help less fortunate children in his community.
