James Dean grew up on a farm in Indiana. His brief career produced seven movies - three are considered film classics - "East of Eden", "Rebel Without a Cause" and "Giant". On September 30, 1955, at the age of 24, Dean was driving his Porsche Spyder and collided with another car. His head was almost severed from his body. His dramatic acting intensity and violent death transformed Dean into a celebrity cult icon.
