David has a degree from Princeton University and a master's degree in English Literature from Yale University. While at Yale, he started commuting to New York to study acting. He left the doctorate program at Yale to appear in off-Broadway plays and pursue an acting career full time. His feature film debut with a small role in 'Working Girl'. He had a recurring role on tv's 'Twin Peaks' before becoming the narrator of women's fantasies on Showtime's 'Red Shoe Diaries'. He shot to stardom playing the role of FBI Agent Fox Mulderon on 'The X-Files' and has become the thinking woman's sex symbol around the world. He was married in 1997 to actress, Tea Leoni. The couple have one child, Madelaine West, and live in Malibu, California.
